The series will join Netflix's library of unscripted shows, which spans dating shows Love Is Blind to a rebooted version of The Mole. Who knows, by the time we get the next season of Squid Game, there could be another season of its competition counterpart at the same time.

After a tremendous battle and backlash from the rest of the cast, Mai took home the $4.56 million grand prize. Battling it out in the end with Phil after Sam's elimination, Mai was able to secure the key that opened the door to the prize, a gold card containing an enormous sum of money. Shown in complete shock, Mai and Phil celebrated her win with tears before a montage of the players returning to normal life ended Squid Game: The Challenge season 1.The series, which is based off of Hwang Dong-hyuk's Korean-language Netflix drama "Squid Game," premiered on Netflix in November. Like the original show, it features contestants fighting their way through a variety of physical and mental challenges for a chance at the prize money, with some added gimmicks hand-made for reality television. Unlike "Squid Game," obviously, players aren't killed when they get eliminated — they just lose out on their chance to take home millions.
