Agilan is a drama film directed by N. Crane operator Agilan is more of a harbour don who carries out illegal activities and transports. Gokul, a cop is appointed to stop him but with Agilan's ability to override all modern technology, puts Gokul's job in jeopardy and Agilan ends up getting arrested. What happens next and the reason behind Agilan's antics forms the rest of the story. Agilan is an action drama film written and directed by N Kalyana Krishnan. The movie stars Jayam Ravi, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Tanya Ravichandran in the leads, along with Harish Uthaman, Hareesh Peradi, Madhusudhan Rao, and many others in supporting roles.Ganesh Kumar edited the film, and Vivek Anand handled the cinematography. Sam C. S. composed the film's soundtrack and background music. This film was produced by Sundar Arumugam and Parthasarathy under their banner of Screen Scene Studios.

Agilan (Jayam Ravi) is a crane operator in a private port in Chennai and is involved in smuggling drugs for a local gangster (played by Hareesh Peradi). He is continuously at loggerheads with a special police officer appointed by the Finance Ministry, and union leader Jananathan (played by Madhusudhan Rao). What are his ulterior motives, and why does he take part in smuggling drugs and human trafficking forms the rest of the plot.Director Kalyana Krishnan is someone who comes from SP Jhananathan's school of films, Agilan is no different from it, as the film speaks about how ports and cargo ships impact the everyday economy of a common man in any country, and the global hunger issue as a whole. When compared to Jhananathan's works, or even Kalyana Krishnan's previous film Booloham, one must say this one is slightly alienated from the common man.

Agilan, a crane operator in a harbor in Chennai, and one of the close aid of this dock boss, Paranthaman, is our central character. He is a very ambitious guy, and his ambitions have only helped him create enemies on both sides of the smuggling business. The movie here shows us how Agilan completes a task given to him by Kapoor, a guy who runs all the dirty sea-route businesses, to get the title of “the King of the Indian Ocean.”The whole Agilan worshipping and how they clubbed it with the Tamil sentiment somewhere reminded me of Hari’s Singam 3, where Suriya was called the “Indian Police” and was acknowledged by the police from various other countries. The poor level of conviction that was there in that movie is clearly there in Agilan, which makes it a tiring and unintentionally funny film. The first half is so focused on making Agilan some kind of an Anti-Hero that Kalyanakrishnan’s wild imagination goes on and on without limits. Seeing the interval block, I was like, “Okay. What’s the conflict?”
