The film begins at the present time on the wedding anniversary of Kabir and Ruhi. Kabir was returning home after shopping for his wife when four masked thugs shot him. A fifth man shot him just before he was out. He was taken to the hospital and shocked Ruhi came to see him. The film then takes a flashback of how the poet’s guru, became a gangster.

In a prison a year ago, a young poet sits in a panic when an elderly prisoner named Jamal tells him to kill his cellmate to prove his worth as a criminal. In return he will be released. The poet does so. Jamal asks her to work with him and calls her 'Beta'. The poet calls him 'Baba'. Jamal tells him that one day he will rule and will be known as Guru. A few years later, Guru Jamal is a notorious gangster and Jamal does exactly what he is told. His closest friend the dragon is always with him. He is seemingly annoyed and wants to quit his business of being a gangster. In an unwelcome way, he goes to kill Vishnu, a former member of their gang. Guru warns him to flee instead of killing him, lest Jamal kill him. Later Guru finds out that Jamal's people have killed Vishnu.

After a heartbreak, he goes to Tommy, a ragtag, and persuades him to share 70% of the business with Jamal. At a party, to celebrate it, Guru sees Chhotu, Tommy, Jameson and a few others plotting against him. Guru and Ghudi later drive to a place where the conspirators trap them in an accident. Guru's car collides. The guru gets out of the car and fights with the rest like a beautiful girl. The guru is attracted to her and falls for her.

They later meet again at the hospital where the guru pays a hefty sum for the expenses of a conspirator whom Ruhi brings to the hospital. Over time, Ruhi and Guru get better together. Guru is now less annoyed with the gang. One day Guru confesses to Ruhi that he is a gangster, but says that he will leave it. He proposes to Ruhi and they get married. Then they met Jamal and asked for prayers. Jamal wants a gift from the guru. Guru replied that he wanted to lead a normal life. Jamal tells him to do so. But all three know that this can never happen.

At the present time a fragmented soul is waiting to get the consciousness of the poet. It is learned that Ruhi was the fifth person to shoot Kabir.

Ruhi tries to kill again to make sure that Kabir is dead. But the arrival of the police inspector prevented him. Just as the poet regains consciousness, the two reunite and Ruhi pretends to be normal.
