Plot:  Lodge 49: Season 1  Dud finds himself deposited by fate at the doorstep of Lodge 49, a dusty fraternal order that offers cheap beer and strange alchemical philosophies. Looking for any semblance of the idyllic middle-class existence he knew before his father’s death and the family business collapsing, a charming, eternally optimistic ex-surfer named Dud stumbles into his life’s new path. He finds himself on the doorstep of a rundown fraternal lodge, where a “Luminous Knight” of the order, plumbing salesman Ernie, welcomes him with open arms. Lodge 49 offers Dud a world of cheap beer, easy friendship and some strange alchemical philosophies that may help him confront his deepest fears and greatest hopes.

Dud is a deadbeat but charming ex-surfer who joins a fraternal order hoping to reclaim the simple, happy lifestyle he lost when his father died. Through the Lodge and his newfound connection with the other members, Dud will come to find the missing sense of purpose in his life and confront his deepest fears and greatest hopes.

Lodge 49 is an American comedy-drama television series created by Jim Gavin. It aired on the cable television network AMC in the United States from August 6, 2018, to October 14, 2019, spanning two seasons and 20 episodes. The title alludes to the novella The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon, which Gavin references as an inspiration. Although the series was met with positive reviews, AMC canceled the series after its second season due to low ratings.
