Unhappy newlywed Lina is against her rich, coldhearted mother-in-law, Katherine. An affair sets off a chain reaction that will result in a love triangle, a murder and a plot to bring Lina down.Katherine, a former Hollywood actor, wakes up in the hospital unable to move. She’s been hit by a car and suffers from locked-in syndrome — her eyes are the only thing she’s able to move. Through her nurse, Nicky, we find out what’s led to Katherine’s hospitalization. Katherine, communicating with her via letter board, blinks when Nicky reads the correct letter: She claims there’s been a murder. Through flashbacks, we see snapshots of Katherine’s life just after she adopts her late best friend’s daughter, Lina. Lina idolizes Katherine and quickly becomes close with her chronically ill son, Jamie. Later, Lina and Jamie get married — much to Katherine’s dismay, as Jamie is the heir to his late father’s manor, where they all live. As Lina and Katherine’s relationship deteriorates, Lina bonds with Jamie’s doctor, Robert, and tragedies befall Katherine’s family. 

Four women, who don't know each other, wake up in a locked basement without any memory of who they are or how they got there.Locked In begins with a team of doctors attending to a celebrity patient, trying to revive her. The only part of her body that may have any movement is her left eye. Through patches of flashbacks, we know that Katherine adopted her best friend's teenage daughter, Lina. With the actress returning to her celebrity commitments after her husband's death, Lina took Jamie, Katherine's little stepson who suffers from epileptic fits, under her wing,In the first plot twist (brace yourself, for there will be many), Jamie's father leaves their sprawling mansion, Rowling Manor, to his son in the will. When Lina (Rose Williams) and Jamie (Finn Cole) grow up, they decide to get married, with the former never having really gone back to the outside world and the latter completely dependent on her.

 Their only connection with the outside world is Dr.Lawrence (Alex Hassel), who is the family GP and looks after Jamie. Katherine, however, is extremely resentful of Lina since she feels betrayed in light of being usurped from her position as the lady of the house. Jamie, seemingly, hooked on the painkillers he has been prescribed, starts sinking further and further into his illness. And he too, grows impatient and resentful of Lina. Her only source of comfort now is Dr.Lawrence and soon, there is something strong brewing between them.While director Nour Wazzi and her set of actors, Famke Janssen (‘X-Men’), Rose Williams (‘The Power’), Finn Cole (‘Peaky Blinders’), Alex Hassel (‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’) and Anna Friel (‘Marcella’), come bearing solid stock of credible work before, Locked In doesn't manage to get it all together as a psychological thriller.

Two women from opposite sides of society find themselves the infatuation of a mysterious killer while struggling with their own convictions and misconceptions.After a determined nurse begins to investigate the circumstances of her patient Katherine’s (Famke Janssen - X-Men) injuries, she unravels a bitter rivalry between Katherine and her daughter-in-law Lina (Rose Williams - The Power). Soon, Katherine plots to bring Lina down by any means necessary in this femme-fatale mystery written by Rowan Joffe (The Informer) and directed by Nour Wazzi.Locked In is the latest in a long line of B-movie psychological thrillers that seem to place much more importance on the kind of twisty structures they can pull off, rather than the actual content of their stories. Formal experimentation is just as valuable of course, but when a story like this—that relies on the shock of how these various character relationships turn against each other—can't give us characters with any sort of real interiority, the flashback-heavy narrative just begins to seem like unnecessary noise.

 Trying to keep up with basic emotional beats shouldn't be this complex, and after a while you begin to realize that these people are simply doing things outside any proper context, suspended in a world with no weight or specificity.LOCKED IN on Netflix is a new thriller mystery with a small cast. The story is intriguing, but the pace is too slow. The title has quite a dual meaning, as you’ll see. Watch it for Anna Friel and Famke Janssen. Read our full Locked In movie review here!The biggest crime with Locked In though is it adopts a trope that irritates many movie viewers. The film has a tendency to reveal crucial parts of the plot through dialogue before we cut back in time and then see that happen. While the central mystery is fine, this occurs for almost every single individual plot beat. As a result, there’s very little mystery or drama to be had here, and in the end the final reveal is so predictable you’ll have seen it coming a mile off.
