The four nations of Air, Water, Earth and Fire lived in harmony until the Fire Nation declared war. A century later, there is still no end in sight to the destruction, then, an Avatar named Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers that he has the power to control the four elements. He joins forces with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka, to restore balance and harmony to their world.The last successor in a line of Airbenders must learn to master all four elements to stand up to the Fire Nation and restore peace to his war-torn world.The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

The Last Airbender is the 2010 live-action film adaptation of the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was the first part of a planned film trilogy adapting the three seasons of the original animated series. It was marketed and released in a joint effort between Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. It was produced, written, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan; others involved include producers Sam Mercer and Frank Marshall; executive producers Kathleen Kennedy, Scott Aversano, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko; and co-producer Jose L. Rodriguez. Filming began in mid-March 2009, and the film itself was released on July 1, 2010, in both 2D and 3D.

Upon release, the film adaptation was near-universally panned by critics, fans of the original animated series, and even viewers of the film who were unfamiliar with the series, though it did receive some praise for its visual effects and design. Despite the negative reviews, the movie was still commercially successful with a $319,123,021 intake worldwide. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD on November 16th, 2010, which were advertised on Nickelodeon before reruns of the series were shown between November 2010 and March 2011. By March, however, copies were no longer printed. It was then premiered on the Nickelodeon channel where ratings were abysmal, and thus sold to a movie channel, where it aired on January 21, 2013, receiving minimal recognition.

M. Night Shyamalan's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender follows Aang (Noah Ringer), who, as the Avatar, is the only person capable of bending all four elements. "The Last Airbender" is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented. The laws of chance suggest that something should have gone right. Not here. It puts a nail in the coffin of low-rent 3D, but it will need a lot more coffins than that.Let's start with the 3D, which was added as an afterthought to a 2D movie. Not only is it unexploited, unnecessary and hardly noticeable, but it's a disaster even if you like 3D. M. Night Shyamalan's retrofit produces the drabbest, darkest, dingiest movie of any sort I've seen in years. You know something is wrong when the screen is filled with flames that have the vibrancy of faded Polaroids. It's a known fact that 3D causes a measurable decrease in perceived brightness, but "Airbender" looks like it was filmed with a dirty sheet over the lens.

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicole Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film "The Last Airbender" is the opening chapter in Aang`s struggle to survive.The world is engulfed by the fires of war, and no one has the power to stop the inevitable destruction--until now. For nearly a century, the Fire Nation has waged its deadly campaign for global domination over its fellow tribal nations of Air, Water and Earth. They offer but one choice to the tribes.
