Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu in theatres near you!“War” features: a couple of good-enough musical numbers; “Top Gun”-levels of homoeroticism, intended or otherwise; way too much who-is-the-mole intrigue; a superfluous romantic sub-plot that dove-tails with a random.

Christmas scene involving a cute widdle kid; an entertaining motorcycle chase where the two dueling stars link arms and spin around like computer-graphics-enhanced dervishes; an endearingly sappy plot tangent involving the mother of Shroff’s character; and a show-stopping church-set hammer fight that follows a sports-car chase across a frozen river. Many muscle shirts, computer-graphics artists, and wind machines were put to great and terrible use on this movie. Thankfully, established Desi/Bollywood fans may find that “War” rewards more than it tests their patience (barely, but still). Two stars and firm favourites of the action genre, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, lock horns in War. It’s a juicy proposition for fanboys and girls of both actors. A sort of millennial throwback to the 90s showdown between Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff in Subhash Ghai's Khalnayak. But apart from this talking-point premise, War, serves up a lot more for the action-movie buffs. It has lots of stunts, thrills, twists and just enough masala and explosions to keep you engaged in the first half, but once the big reveals happen in the second half of the story, it goes awry. Where the film excels in action set pieces, it genuinely falls short on the story front.

But the story is in all fairness, secondary to the idea of watching two handsome hunks squaring off in a duel of high-octane stunts (action directors — SeaYoung Oh, Parvez Shaikh, Franz Spilhaus and Paul Jennings). It’s like the two heroes, Hrithik and Tiger, known for their bulging muscles and crisp six-pack abs are out to beat each other in a competition of pure brawn. Kabir and Khalid, punch, kick and pound each other to a pulp, and watching the two actors put on a show of their chiselled good looks is a sight for the fans. Hrithik Roshan is in top form as the anti-hero and Tiger matches up to his senior in both smouldering on-screen intensity and the high-flying action. Both actors feed off each other’s ability to ace good-looking action. And when they’re not fighting for supremacy, they’re trying to out-dance each other in foot-tapping numbers. Vaani Kapoor has a small role, where she mostly manages to up the glamour quotient of the movie. Ashutosh Rana brings his usual dialled-up intensity to his performance, as well.It is revealed that Khalid's father, Major Abdul Rahmani, betrayed the army in a previous mission, leaving Kabir with two gunshot wounds and his partner dead. Kabir then sought and killed Abdul for his betrayal. Reluctant to work with Khalid, Kabir eventually allows him to join his squad, consisting of RAW agents Saurabh, Prateek, Muthu, and Aditi, on a successful mission, in Tikrit, to kill a cell of Haqqani's associates. 

The group succeeds in arresting terrorist Basheer Hassib, in-turn causing their main target, Rizwan Ilyasi, a terrorist-cum-businessman, to come out of hiding. The squad reunite to target Ilyasi in Marrakesh, but as they capture him, he tells Kabir that he planted a mole in his team. Saurabh reveals himself as the mole, by killing Prateik and Muthu. This starts a rooftop chase, with Khalid chasing Saurabh. On the ground, a shootout ensues between Kabir and Ilyasi's men, and Kabir gets shot, temporarily knocking him out. He wakes up at the hospital a few days later and meets a severely injured Khalid, who tells him that he killed Saurabh, whose body was never found.Back in present, Khalid is nearly taken off the mission to capture Kabir, when Jimmy Shroff, a Lieutenant colonel, is murdered by Kabir. Kabir then organizes a public meeting with Khalid on the train, informing him that his next target is Dr. Utpal Biswas. Later in Lisbon, Khalid is unable to prevent Biswas from being killed by Kabir. After the incident, Khalid is suspended by RAW. Khalid tracks Kabir down through a previous case; he learns Kabir is on a covert mission to find a government hard drive with secret codes, and is targeting Ilyasi’s known associates.We start with Hrithik, top Indian secret agent, shooting his an Indian analyst and going rogue. Tiger, fellow top agent who he trained, is brought in to be part of the team tracking him down. But he is not put in charge of the team because (as Ashutosh Rana, their boss says outright in an open briefly) “you love him”. Flashback two years, Tiger is a young commando just assigned to training with Hrithik, top hero agent.

 Hrithik doesn’t trust him because Tiger’s father was a traitor who killed Hrithik’s partner and then Hrithik shot him. But Tiger begs for a chance to prove himself. Their mission is to capture a terrorist who is being secretly funded by a top international billionaire. Hrithik and Tiger end up fighting together and then are in love. That night, Hrithik calls Tiger into his private office and confronts him because Hrithik has realized Tiger has a problem with his peripheral vision. Tiger begs to stay on the team and prove himself, reveals his eye sight was damaged when his classmates beat him up after his father was revealed as a traitor. Hrithik agrees it will be there secret. And then they dance. And then they get word that the top billionaire guy has been spotted in Marrekech. The team goes to get him but, at the last minute, it is revealed that one of the young members is a traitor. Tiger goes off chasing the traitor, Hrithik tries to take down the billionaire and fails. Tiger is found a week later washed up on the beach but still alive, Hrithik is in the hospital too. They are the only ones remaining of the team except their female IT support Anupriya Goenka and closer than ever. In the present, Hrithik does an amazing midair assassination of a General. And then Tiger gets on his train to go home and is surprised by Hrithik. Hrithik intensely offers him to either tell why he is doing this or give him the name of the next target. They almost kiss, and then Hrithik gives Tiger a note with the name of the next target and disappears.
