The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Rashmika Mandanna, and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, with a supporting cast of talented actors including Nithya Menen, Fahadh Faasil, and Parvathy Thiruvothu. The film's title HRIDAYAM means 'heart' in Sanskrit and the film revolves around the theme of love and relationships.
The film opens with a stunning aerial shot of the city of Chennai. The camera then zooms in on a crowded street where we see the protagonist, Aditya (played by Dulquer Salmaan), walking briskly towards his office. Aditya is a successful architect who is dedicated to his work and has little time for anything else. He lives alone in a modern apartment and has a minimalist lifestyle.
One day, Aditya meets Meera (played by Rashmika Mandanna) at a work function. Meera is an independent and confident young woman who works in the film industry. The two strike up a conversation and immediately hit it off. They exchange numbers and start talking on the phone regularly. Aditya is intrigued by Meera's zest for life and her passion for her work.
As they get to know each other better, Aditya and Meera realize that they have a lot in common. They both love music, movies, and traveling. They start going out on dates and their relationship blossoms. However, Aditya is reluctant to commit to Meera as he fears that he may not have enough time for her due to his busy work schedule.
Meanwhile, Aditya's childhood friend, Arjun (played by Vijay Sethupathi), comes to visit him from Mumbai. Arjun is a successful businessman who is married to his college sweetheart, Anjali (played by Nithya Menen). Arjun and Anjali's relationship is the envy of all their friends as they have been together for over a decade and are still madly in love. Arjun advises Aditya to take his relationship with Meera seriously and not let work come in the way of love.
Aditya takes Arjun's advice to heart and decides to propose to Meera. He plans a romantic evening for her at his apartment and surprises her with a diamond ring. Meera is overjoyed and accepts his proposal. They celebrate their engagement with their friends and family and start planning their wedding.
However, their happiness is short-lived as they face a series of challenges. Meera's film shoot gets delayed and she has to leave Chennai for an extended period. Aditya is forced to work on a project abroad and is unable to stay in touch with Meera regularly. They start drifting apart and their communication becomes sporadic.
When Aditya returns to Chennai, he finds that Meera has changed. She seems distant and uninterested in their relationship. He tries to talk to her and understand what is going on, but she refuses to open up. Aditya is heartbroken and turns to his friends for support.
Fahadh Faasil and Parvathy Thiruvothu play Aditya's close friends, who are also going through their own relationship troubles. Fahadh's character is struggling to come to terms with his wife's infidelity, while Parvathy's character is torn between her career and her boyfriend's demands.
The three friends spend a lot of time together, talking about their problems and trying to find solutions. They realize that relationships require patience, understanding, and compromise. They encourage Aditya to reach out to Meera and try to salvage their relationship.
